(RTTNews) - UK's public sector current budget surplus decreased GBP1.9 billion in July from the previous year to GBP6.6 billion, a report from the Office for National Statistics, or ONS showed Wednesday.
The public sector net borrowing showed a negative balance of GBP4.8 billion, which was GBP1.6 billion higher borrowing than in July 2007. Economists were looking for minus GBP4.6 billion in July.
Further, the ONS said the public sector net cash requirement was minus GBP12.6 billion in July compared with minus GBP13.3 billion recorded in the prior year. Economists had expected a negative balance of GBP10 billion.
